Many young people think it’s safer to use prescription medications than illegal street drugs. They also find it easier to access these drugs. Both of these issues will be addressed along with ways to change these misconceptions.
We have scheduled a Town Hall Meeting to address the dangers of prescription and over the counter drug misuse in our communities and the impact it has on our children and youth and the future prosperity of Oklahoma. This is an opportunity to educate families, educators, city officials, business leaders and other community members about this ever growing problem. We will discuss and provide ideas, strategies and possible solutions on limiting improper access, while developing safe monitoring, storage and disposal practices for the medications we have in our homes.
The meeting will take place at the Ralph Ellison Public Library, located at 2000 NE 23rd in Oklahoma City. The date for the event is Tuesday, 22 April, 2014. Activities will begin at 7PM.
As an organization committed to prevention for all unsafe substance abuse, Eagle Ridge Institute is available for sponsoring these types of meetings in communities throughout the OKC metro area. We hope to see you on the 22nd. For more information, please contact us at (405)840-1359
